Greenkeeping
Our Greenkeeper Team
Greenkeepers must not be endangered or obstructed in their duties!
Please note that, on the course intended for mowing, Greenkeepers enjoy priority. In order to avoid interference during mowing works, we provide you with the Greenkeeper´s workplan:
-
Current projects
- Bunker renovations
A lot of bunkers have aged drainage systems that have to be modernized, and stones which have spread from the underground to the sand surface. For this reason 40 bunkers were renovated from 2016-2019.
During the course of renovation bunkers are completely emptied and new drainage systems installed. After that, a clay layer is put on top of the stone base in order to prevent stones from wandering and mixing themselves with the actual sand of the bunker. Finally all bunkers are filled with new sand.
- West Course 2nd green
The green on the 2nd hole of the West Course is very narrow, therefore the option of varying hole locations is quite restricted. For the actual green this results in overusage of the areas where the hole is located and, during summer periods, often leads to weakening through being prone to diseases.
Therefore the 2nd green will be enlarged by 4 metres on the left and 6 metres at the back, which will provide the possibility of additional hole locations and also greatly reduce strain on the green in the vicinity of the hole.

Aeration
Regeneration works with short term interference that leads to long term benefit.
Requirement for perfect grass conditions are deep, healthy roots which receive sufficient air supply.
Intensive usage of grass and unfavourable climatic conditions lead to compression, which prevents an even moisture penetration of the soil. Therefore the roots cannot grow deep into the earth, but rather spread themselves out in a flat layer at the top of the soil.
During aeration the grass is ventilated by introducing holes into the soil. The filling of the resulting cavities with sand (topdressing) encourages the growth of roots in the deeper areas of the soil.
Aeration makes the ground more penetrable for air and water and is an indispensable maintenance measure in order to help the grass stay healthy.
